Martina, a 17-year-old girl with an unwavering passion for creating positive change in the world and helping combat climate change with public policy. Martina is currently a 12th Grade IB Diploma Candidate attending Mulgrave School in West Vancouver, BC, Canada. Martina is passionate about climate change, politics, law, rowing, and the arts.
This past summer, 2023, Martina was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend the School of New York Times and delved into the study of the United Nations. As a passionate individual driven by a strong interest in global affairs and international cooperation, this program presents an ideal platform to deepen her understanding of the United Nations’ role in addressing pressing global challenges.

During her journey to Fiji, Martina immersed herself in the island's climate change adaptation and agricultural practices. She explored their vibrant culture, taking part in traditional cooking classes using locally harvested ingredients. Martina gained insights into sustainable food production, sharing her knowledge with the local community to promote sustainability. Additionally, she contributed to restoring Fiji's mangrove ecosystems, exemplifying her commitment to environmental stewardship. Martina's journey showcases her dedication to empowering communities and fostering harmony with nature.
Martina's trip to Uruguay proved to be transformative as she witnessed the urgency of the situation with plastic pollution on the beaches. Motivated to take action, she organized beach clean-up initiatives, working tirelessly to remove plastic pollutants and restore the coastal areas' beauty. Martina also advocated for the use of reusable to-go drinking glasses instead of disposable plastics, approaching nearby hotels. Through her efforts, she made a significant impact in promoting environmental consciousness and preserving the natural beauty of Uruguay's beaches.
Martina has participated in 2 TedX events and has spread her messages of climate action throughout the internet. Her goal is to inspire and engage communities worldwide to take meaningful steps toward environmental sustainability, focusing on creating a lasting impact through education and advocacy.
